Welcome to our blog!
We have had a blast in BUG FUN enrichment summer school!
Monday was lady bug day.
Dawn helped us with shape review...
Fionn assisted the kiddos with putting bug jars in numeric order. Some kids even made it to 20!
Sorcha took care of folders and helped the kids decorate bug boxes!
I painted with the kids. We read a poem about a lady bug family and then painted a picture to match the characters and setting.
While the kids wait their turn for projects, they get to have choice time.
We have such great entomologists!
Thank you for all the great treats!
At snack time we watch a science video or a book reading on the smart board.
Every day we sign in on the chart.
After snack time we have bonus book time!
One of my favorite times of the day!
On Tuesday we looked at caterpillars and butterflies!
The kids love looking at the bugs everyone brings in...
Choice Time on Tuesday was busy!
At my table we finished our lady bug pictures from Monday.
Maeve assisted the kids in journaling about food as they fed their very hungry caterpillars!
Sorcha's table was a name practice.
We wrote our names just like kindergarteners!
(one uppercase, the rest lower)
Dawn played a beginning sound and letter recognition game with the students...
My table (round2) was for creating a very cute caterpillar clip!
The smartboard is a popular choice!
So is the bug discovery table!
Wednesday was fly and firefly day!
At my table we painted with flyswatters to go along with the book Old Black Fly!
Oh, this was soooo much fun!
Sorcha's helped the kids create fireflies in a jar after they worked on numeric order!
At Fionn's table the students swatted out the letters in their names. At group time we played a game with the table sized game board. We raced to find letters!
At my table (round2 again!) the kids measured with caterpillars! Dawn began this skill on Tuesday, we finished it today!
I just love it when the kids choose to play the games we played at group time! This was a shape review hiding the lady bug game...
Here's the photos we took for cutie patootie picture frames we will create on Thursday...
Thursday was bee day!
I try to help the kiddos see how helpful bees
(and other pollinators) are to the environment.
Of course, we need to be cautious around them, but not afraid.
At Fionn's table the kids worked on the shape
HEXAGON and stamped a beehive and learned a poem about 5 little bees!
Sorcha helped the kids create these cutie patootie honey bees!
My team worked on the picture frames for our gift to you!
Thanks for enrolling your kiddo in our enrichment program!
We ended our learning time with data collection.
Just like a scientist!
Good reads this week included this great selection of fiction and nonfiction...
And as always choice time was a busy time!
Friday was ant day!
Every day we signed in on the morning message.
Today's skill was to draw an ant!
Sorcha worked with the kiddos on one-to-one correspondence
(each object gets one number).
At my table we made a bug collection while we focused on beginning sounds!
And Fionn's science table included finding and looking at different insects!
The kids also picked out a stamper to keep!
Our final choice time included some pretty nifty bug creations!
I would like to thank you again for a great week!
I'll see you around in the Fall!
