2020 Week 20 CHINESE NEW YEAR, pandas, short a, addition/subtraction

Happy Year of the Rat!

We began our Chinese New Year Celebration by creating and writing about this iconic and shy animal: The Giant Panda!


 We learned many interesting facts!
 We also did our best penmanship!
Wow!


Our discovery table and dramatic play areas are all set for the Chinese New Year!

 

We created a giant good luck dragon to hang in our room...
the kiddos made the body:



My daughter, Maeve, made the head:
 Together we have one lucky dragon!

The kiddos have been trying to build the tallest magnatile structure EVER!


 Tuesday's new morning challenges were:
Panda Sentences...



Unscrambling GUNG HAY FAT CHOY...

Lucky Leisies (red envelopes for gift giving) Counting by 5s...

We created our own tiny good luck dragons!


They are still trying....

During group time we are working on word families!

 We use our writing journals several times a week.
I just love this one!

This adorable angel brought our letter Aa snack this week!
Absolutely Amazing!

We finished our first 100 piece puzzle!

We love learning about pandas!

We have another 100 CLUB kiddo!

And we also have another 6 year old!
 
Thursday was our Chinese New Year celebration!
We had a switch-a-roo with Mrs. Pilger's room.
I cooked Chinese noodles for her kiddos and we learned how to use chopsticks!

Meanwhile our class went to Mrs. Pilger who showed them how to make Chinese calligraphy!


At book time one of our favorite activities is looking at our giant map...

Rest time is also puzzle time!

Thursday's centers were:
Cooking and eating CHINESE NOODLES
with chopsticks!




We also used geoboards....

We counted by 10s with lucky liesies...

and we reviewed numbers with pandas...

Our final station was thinking of and writing 3 letter words!
