2024 Week 18 MLK and The Beach!

Brrrrr! Thank you for continuing to send winter wear for your k kid even though we cannot go outside due to temps less than 0° (with windchill factored in)  I will send them home bundled up "just in case"

On Monday we celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his message of peace.

More further down on this post!

We are at the BEACH!!! Well, at least we've turned our classroom into a tropical paradise! For the next 2 weeks we will have beach themes to keep us learning and having fun!

One of our bonuses are these cutie pie oysters including a little pearl.  How fun!

On Tuesday we read the classic Chicka Chick Boom Boom and then created these tropical coconut last name trees:

One of our new beachy areas in the octopus cave!

We've also a shark game...

And plenty of beach wear to try on! Putting the pieces in our mouths is discouraged but
disinfectant wipes included, just in case!

The sea shell station is tons of fun!
So is the real sand in the discovery table...

This pink moon sand has been a favorite all year!

We've brand new beach Legos!

Here is Monday's project to go along with
The Land of Many Colors:

We did this classic "experiment":
The kids chose the shiny bag.  Inside was.....cat food! Surprise!
The plain bag had cupcakes.  We did share those after the kiddos could say the lesson learned: "it's what's on the inside that matters!" Our hearts,  our character...not the color of our skin...is what is important!

More fun beach photos:

Wednesday's centers included:
STEM Challenge: create a coconut tree that can hold letters using 10 blocks and at least 5 sticks...

Grandma Cheryl helped with parrot words...

Jill's table was ordering numbers...

Katie's table was missing number octopi...

Ms.Kay's table was using stickers to create a beach scene and write the words...

More beach photos!
(I just can't help it,  they are so dang cute!)

On Thursday we honed our counting on skills and created these cute octopi!

Just a few photos as my phone died...
