2024 Week 20 Chinese New Year, Pandas, and Ground Hogs

Hung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year
(a little early!)
Welcome to
THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON!
This week we ticked off a social studies standard for comparing cultures.
What we discovered is we have more in common with folks from Chinese descent than differences!
We all like to eat, to play, to learn,
 to love our families!

And speaking of playing, learning, eating, and families:
Here are this week's centers including all those things!
(4 parents came to help!  Thank you!)

Owen's mom helped with the Chinese Noodle Playdo station!  What fun making noodles!

Jill, Fin's mom, and Ms. Kay helped with addition equations:

Katie, Oren's mom, helped with teen number recognition!

Lindsey, Paxton's mom, helped with comparing America to China...

And I made Chinese Noodle at centers for the kids to eat with chopsticks! Fun and delicous!

We made several Lucky Duck books with this theme.
This one is thinking about what animal we would chose to represent this year.

We've had some  fun solving puzzles together:

Our dramatic play area is set up for the Chinese New Year as well!  Those fake ramen noodles are amazing!

The discovery table also has noodles and all sorts of fun artifacts to play with!

I had left over fans to use up this year.
We sure loved decorating them!

We created this giant lucky dragon together on Monday:

On Friday we learned all about
GROUNDHOGS!
(pictures in next week's blog as I always sent this out Friday morning)

On Thursday we had PANDA DAY!
This little fella made this cutie patootie picture using his bonus stickers!

We created these adorable pandas after a day of learning interesting panda facts.  We also wrote about them using our best penmanship! (pictures next week as we are still polishing them up!)
