So this happened last weekend!
My hubby and I went up to Grand Marais for our first North Shore weekend since my dad's cancer diagnosis in October and death in December. He was an outdoorsman who loved rocks, so it seemed about time! We just happened to be there the same time the John Beargrease dogsled race was happening! Yay, us! That meant no hiking, though
(yay,me?)
So nearly to Canada on Sunday, back to work on Monday!
This little guy finally got to share his Bb snack...BUGLES!
We wrapped up the beach unit with a fun day exploring states of matter: LIQUIDS!
We painted with liquid watercolor...
We explored sink and float...
We generated a list of liquids...
We explored liquids at our science table...
Then we had to begin our Chinese New Year preparations:
We created a segment for our lucky dragon for the parade on Friday...
Here's some decorations in our room as we compare our two different yet the same cultures...

What a hit!
Thursday we had tons of groundhog fun!
Our first 'write the room' was a success!
The kids had to find words for each letter in the word
GROUNDHOG...
We read a great book just filled with groundhog facts.
We then wrote why or why not we wish for the groundhog to see his shadow, plus created these adorable whistle pigs!
This looks like fun...
We cooked Chinese Noodles with spinach and ate them with chopsticks! Which the kids got to keep!
(best day ever, apparently!)
Our Asian cooking station is open in the dramatic play area!
Our groundhog science table is also a hit.
Ok, so someone forgot to take pics during Thursday's centers. This is what the end looks like....

Back in here for snack we enjoyed fortune cookies!
Here is what the kids' created with Mrs. Pilger...
