2021 Week 4

 Hi!  Happy Fall!

Here are some fun photos of our primitive camping trip (where a vault toilet is a luxury...haha!) last weekend near Finland with 2 of our young adult children! We try to get some miles of the Superior Hiking Trail ticked off in the Fall but I'm not quite up for the challenge YET...but soon!

We drove up to Lutzen as those 2 kiddos had never been up Moose Mountain in the gondola

(which is WAAAAYYYY easier than hiking up it which we did 2 years ago! )

Then we headed nearly to the Canadian border at the end of the Gunflint Trail to Magnetic Rock ( the red pin)

It's a fun and not too hard 3 miles .

If you are ever in that neck of the woods, go see it. Be sure to bring a real compass to see why compasses do not work well up here!

Soooo that's my crazy life. We drove 6.5 hours Friday after an MRI to Finland and back on Sunday!

Just you wait to see what I do when I go to Georgia or Indianapolis! Haha!!!

So our school week was full of HAPPY APPLE FUN!!!!

Thank you for sending in the apples we did so much with them: counting, sorting, graphing, chopping, cooking (applesauce, dried apples, and apple pie!) and EATING!!!!

Here are some photos of our amazing week:

Our first birthday celebration!

This is some of our apple work!
sorting by color and size

Tuesday's centers included:
numeral roll and printing practice

looking at our apples like scientists with Bentley's mom!  Thanks, Melanie for helping us out!
If you ever want to volunteer Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are great days to be here!

Friends at School!

Brain Break Playdough...

Does it Rhyme?

We finished up our Pete the Cat projects!

At morning meeting we have whole group learning games and activities.  This one was beginning sound apples.
The kids are catching on!

I wish I would have taken more pictures of these!
Anneleise brought in a project for her birthday instead of treats!  Our para, Ms.Erin, helped the kids decorate their own canvas bag over several days.
Thanks!
On Wednesday we began processing our apples.
Each kiddo chopped and chopped and chopped!

We made applesauce and dried apples!
It smelled sooo good in here!

Here are Thursday's centers:
Bobbin' for apples number recognition...

brain break: puzzles!

Beginning sound apples:

I Spy Apple Orchard style...

and APPLE PIE!

The Kiddos followed a recipe to enjoy this tasty treat!
We also sampled our applesauce and dried apples.
Apple juice and whole apples rounded off our snack!
YUMMY!

Here are our centers in action!

This was one of our favorite Morning Message charts this week...a giant Kiss for letter Kk!

We created these beauties this week as well...
Johnny Appleseeds!
Or rather  (your child's name) Appleseeds!

We've been talking about adjectives
(thanks if you did the bonus homework with the poem!)

We've labeled an apple:

and created our first
