Here is my Best Day Ever!
We had to drive nearly to Canada to find snow and our "perfect" tree!
We take 2 yearly winter trips Up North. One to cut a tree from the Superior National Forest, visit the Julebyen, take a train trip on the Troll Train and then one for the John Beargrease Sled Dog Race coming up in January. I LOVE winter!
I go in the Lake every chance I get!
We followed wolf tracks while finding our tree on this logging road!
Monday began my absolute favorite week in kindergarten:
Gingerbread Week!
The kids created their own gingerbread decoration for our fun reading chart!
For our Reading/ Language Arts activity we practiced the an family with these cutie pie flip charts:
We also practiced our Addition skills with a new lucky duck book!
Hang on to your hats, we actually mixed up and baked real gingerbread cookies! It smelled soooo good in our room! The aroma brought more than a few people in to check out the deliciousness!
It really doesn't get much better than this!
❤️
Independent and/or partner and/or group Reading is such a good time!
Choice time=fun and learning time!
Monday evening, my besties and I rang the bells at Hyvee!
What a generous crowd that night!
Monday afternoon we finished up Wants and Needs!
I was finally able to finish round one of Action 100. We had 5 kids move to level 1G. That level requires 20-25 sight words at flash speed! Well done, Kiddos!
We also wrapped up our lesson on color words with a fun song called "Color Farm"
Here are the actors for round 2:
More choice time!
The gingerbread village is Open!
Mrs. Olson did a great job with the kiddos while I was up north. "Where do Animals Find Food? " was the fun science lesson she taught last Friday
The family projects are adorable!
We are really reading now as we look at ending sound!
Wednesday's centers included:
Station 1: S.T.E.M. Challenge, created a boat/ raft for our gingerbread man so he doesn't get wet!
Station 2: Creating Teen Numbers with Jill
Station 3: Pokey Pin, Gingerbread characters
Station 4:Read the Room , Gingerbread Sight Words
Station 5: Cookie dough playdough!
(It really looks real and smells delicious!
But it really is playdough!)
This was a delicious and fun graphing experience!
We had a very generous donation from Lewiston Senior Living where my mom lives. The purchased 12 little writing tablets for our class!
When centers activities are chosen during choice time, it's a win!
Our igloo is really looking igloo-ish!
