2018 Week 3 Letter Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh; Pete the Cat; Sorting and Classifying

(my right and left click  buttons are broken on my laptop...sorry, I gave up trying to made this blog more readable with a nice font and larger letters!)
Here's my house lately... apples and chickens!
To read about this funny fellow,  find me on Facebook or Instagram to read the whole story of the
 "kitchen chicken"!

Here's a little preview of our week....exciting Ee day and the Elephant toothpaste experiment!

Last Friday we had our first library day! Here's Ms. Manly and Ms. Kay at check out time!

On Monday this excellent fella brought Elf cookies for our Ee snack!

The class is gearing up for our science project.  Aren't the adorable in their protective eye wear? Safety first!

Here's the ingredients for our first science experiment.  If you are interested in recreating this,  google elephant toothpaste.  The strong hydrogen peroxide is only for adults to use though. I bought ours at Sally's in LaCrosse. The byproduct of this experiment is water.  Very sudsy water!  The purpose of this experiment was to introduce following directions,  measuring of liquids,  practicing safety.
Plus it was pretty cool!

Here's the video again. ..
I just can't stop watching it!

Here's Monday's cutie leader and morning message...
On Monday afternoon we created these lovely mosaic names for the hallway!  We've received so many compliments on them!

We also made a graph of how many letters in our names... fun with numbers!

Tuesday morning we began a new round of morning challenges:
The yellow team used bear clip cards to match number to quantity...

The red team matched rhyming words...

The green team put together alphabet puzzles...
These rotate daily.

This fabulous friend brought fruit snacks for our letter Ff snack...
He was also our first birthday boy of the school year!
Here's our two newest entrees into our ABC book...Ee eggs and Ff fish!
We began our Pete the Cat theme by playing this fun button game in whole group!
We then did our very first labeling project....
"Let's Label Pete!"
This is the big chart...

This is the kids' practice page.

Tuesdays' centers included these 5 stations:
Fizzy Science for letter Ff... what fabulous fun!

Just like scientists we had to record our findings...

This station was used to introduce color coding of our answers ... you'll see lots of color coding this year at centers!

This is our names on magic rainbow paper... fun!

At this station we practiced writing letters on glitter trays!

This station was name puzzles!

This great kid brought granola,  grapes,  and goldfish crackers for our Gg snack!
How cute!
On Wednesday,  our Gg page in our alphabet books was a green and/ or gold glitter Gg!

At choice time each table took turns exploring the science table with a huge tray of baking soda and some colored vinegar and droppers.
 What fun exploring!
The kids also got a glow stick for the letter Gg.

Good reads this week...
This happy girl brought us Honey Nut Cheerios for our Hh snack!

Here's our letter Hh page...
