2019 Week 20 and 21, Review and Short i, measurement, Chinese New Year and Dental Health!

I don't even know what to say about all those snow days except I'm very glad everyone is safe and sound. We had to pack away a liquids unit,  as well as ground hog, panda, and Chinese dragons. Sigh...
On a happy note:
Here's some of my family's pre and post Polar Vortex fun!
I do have 3 kids yet at home,  however,  even if they join my hubby and me on our adventures, they are camera shy! See?

Stick with me a bit,  there's a lot for my faraway family and friends who follow this blog.... or you can zoom down to see your awesome k kids!

Yes, Loki, the Polar Bear dog still needs walking...he LOVES this weather! So up up up the bluff we went!

Actually my hubby and I do not mind the cold weather either,  we dress for it!  Just before the bad weather began down here,  we zoomed up North for our 25th anniversary weekend getaway!  So we got an extra day of the frigid weather, haha!
We went to see the John Beargrease dog sled race which began in Duluth!
It was minus 15° at 10 am (up 10° from earlier!),  but just like my dog,  these dogs love the cold especially while pulling a load for 300 miles!  If you're interested in this race,  check out my Facebook or Instagram feed for more info! Or follow John Beargrease on social media...

We froze our aaaa... agates!  Haha! What a good haul!   Yes,  I was in Lake Superior,  but not too deep or too long,  remember it was minus 25° first thing in the morning! I left these in the car a little too long!

The gift for 25 years of married bliss is silver.... silver aggressive ice cleats that is!
Here's me playing on frozen Agate Bay near Two Harbors and not slipping!

The sea smoke was something to behold! We had never witnessed this weather phenomenon before!  This was at the Split Rock Lighthouse overlook...
Here's me again,  -25° breakfast lakeside near Finland with the sea smoke forming behind me!

We ticked off 4 more miles on the Superior Hiking Trail in snow shoes and ice cleats! This part was north and east of Duluth.

Only 150+ more miles to go!  Hopefully they'll be in hiking sandals and hiking boots!

We did have some snuggly moments during the deep freeze and ice storms...

 Okay okay enough about us!

I only had your kiddos 5 days in 2 weeks. Plus a couple of those days were late starts!  Crazy!
Here's some of our fun and learning:
We have 3 100 Club counters! Congrats kids!
We finally finished these adorable picture frames from our beach unit. Ms.Harden patiently helped the kids design them...

 Tuesday's new morning challenges were:
Short i puzzles...

 Chinese New Year sentences...

 Panda counting by 2s, 5s, 10s puzzles...

The dental health table is up and running!

Ms. H began her Math units with the kids.
 The first was on measurement!

The Chinese New Year was up and running for only a days this year. We sure enjoyed it while it was there!
The discovery table held "Chinese noodles", chopsticks, mah jong tiles, lucky coins,  paper fans,  Chinese take out boxes  and other artifacts to explore...

We learned a few Mandarin words..
Even the kitchen was outfitted with tea cups,  teapots,  chopsticks,  and some traditional looking food...

This fellow is pretty proud of his lucky dragon (it was a bonus activity!)

 Tuesdays centers included:
Comparing cultures with Ms Harden...

 Addition lucky dragons...

Printing 3 letter words with Ms.Walrich (she's our field experience student from 1st semester who wanted to come back this semester! Yay us! She'll join us every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon)

Read- the- room: Counting on teens with the animals of the Chinese Zodiac...

 And...
Are you ready for this?
We cooked real Chinese noodles in class! Okay okay,  it was only Ramen but the presentation is lovely!  Plus they think I'm a world class chef!  Haha!

And even more awesome,  we ate them with chopsticks that we got to keep!
Each team had a mini lesson on using chopsticks.  It's tricky but half of the kiddos caught on (a couple already knew how!  Well done,  parents,  well done! )

This Incredible student brought an ideal treat for letter Ii... ice cream!

Wednesday afternoon we began our dental health unit with these giant toothbrushes to help keep track of brushing habits.  I'll have a little sugar-free treat for those who return them in a month.

Another snow day on Thursday... another round of baking!
 And a little playing!

Here some of the February family projects!
(Friday's are not yet hung up)
We have another 6 year old!

Here's Friday's new morning challenges:
