2019 September Week 2 "Brown Bear", Letters Aa, Bb, Cc,Dd, #1-5

What a great week from this bunch of kiddos!

We began our letter-of-the-day series with Aa on Monday!

This a-a-a-adorable guy brought animal crackers for our Aa snack!

On Monday we crafted these absolutely amazing alligator purses after reading (and singing!)
The Lady With The Alligator Purse of course!

Tucked inside were photos of objects that began with Aa.
Everyday we will add another page to our ABC Book.  We will bring them home toward the ends of October!

We began our new Math series this week!   It begins with 3 options for the kids to begin thinking about math all around us.

My favorite option was for the k kids to design their own license plate!

These two b-b-beautiful children brought Bb snack:

Bananas and blue juice
 And blueberry muffins!

Everyday the kiddos have smart board work to do.

Here they had to practice their letter Bbs!

Tuesdays centers included:

Our first "cooking" activity!
The kiddos had to follow a recipe to create a bus from graham crackers,  yellow frosting,  mini oreos,  and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.
What a tasty and a fun way to review letter Bb!

During centers we also made our letter Bb Alphabet Book page...

We practiced our names (one uppercase the rest lowercase letters)  by using those most coveted scratch off papers!

We also had a bonus bracelet at that table!

Our final station was building letters with pattern blocks...

On Wednesday this c-c-c-caring kiddo bright is cheese popcorn for our letter Cc snack!

On Wednesday afternoon the kindergarteners cut out this big bear,  glued him together,  and painted him with colorful watercolors!
It actually took us well into Thursday to finish!

They are just lovely!

Thursday morning we began Morning Challenges!
Each table will have a rotating activity that they must solve as a team.
The yellow team put cards in ABC order...

The green team used our bear  clip it cards to match counting with numerals...

And the red team sorted objects by color...

During Math time we've been exploring flexible seating.  The kids take their math packet and work wherever their little hearts desire!  Some work on the floor,  some prefer to stay at their tables.

Ok, this cracked me up!  I must have left that paperback book in the picnic basket at the dramatic play area earlier this summer. This little reader found it,  opened up and pretended to read it for 5 minutes!
I especially love the accessories that are vital to reading: cupcakes and cell phones!
Keep going,  kiddo,  you'll be reading in no time!

This d-d-d-darling child brought us delicious snacks from her cupboard for letter Dd!
Since they didn't start with Dd(that happens sometimes)  we made Dds with them before eating then up!

We are reading!
Brown Bear is a wonderful example of predictable text the students can have success reading once they discover the pattern.
The focus was to touch each word as we read it.

The leader gets to be the teacher at group time!

Thursday's centers included:
M&M sorting,  counting,  recording and EATING!

Building letters using counting bears..

Matching the Alphabet and learning how to color code at centers...
(A pink background means we use the pink marker to record our answer)

And Brown Bear color race...

Good Reads...

Here's some skills we've been focusing on.... is the character real or make believe?
And "Do You Have a ___ in Your Name? "..
