2019 September Week 4 Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll and APPLE WEEK!

.
Last weekends's shenanigans included spending time with these lovely ladies at the Amish Walmart
(junk pickers paradise! )...

And taking my kiddos and their friends to the Renaissance Festival!

Meanwhile back in this century on a Monday,
this lovely lady used the painting station to practice our letter of the day!

This Incredible guy brought Iced Animal Crackers for letter Ii snack!
We've been practicing rhyming with this fun matching game...
On Monday,  Mr.Riebel came to read us a funny book called
 A Fine Fine School
and to tell us about his job as a leader in our school, our social studies topic this week!
He gave us some pretty serious homework before he left....
to have fun!
That's it, just to have fun! (The book was about balance)

We created these adorable "Johnny Appleseeds" on Monday afternoon!

That painting station sure is popular.
This little one is painting a lovely apple!

I love the look of Tuesday's tools!
Thus joyous kiddo brought Jello for our Jj treat!

These chefs are peeling (and eating)  the apples to be used later in the day.  Everyone got a chance to peel and chop!

Tuesday's leader is having fun taking our morning message...
Before we peeled and chopped and cooked,  we used our apple to create some pretty nifty graphs as we sorted by color and...
Size!
Oh yum!  Here's the rest of the ingredients to make dried apples...

These are the best!
We also made applesauce...

Tuesday's centers included the apple tasting table...
whole apples,  applesauce,  apple juice, and apples rounded out our  menu!
.

Oh,  plus I showed them how to use the cinnamon sugar mill.
What fun to try!
Another station was "I Spy Apple Orchard"...

And bobbing for apple numbers...

And one to one counting with apple trees play dough...

We made a graph in group time showing what color of apples we all brought in...
Then the kids created their own version to take home to share.

We had a blast reading Dr.Suess' 10 Apples Up On Top!
Here's us with apples "up on top!"
We made a lucky duck book with these cute photos.

Wednesday brought new morning challenges:
Apple Basket  sound sort...

Apple tree 1 to 1 and numeral recognition ...

And uppercase/ lowercase apple matching...

This kind kiddo brought Krispy treats for Kk day!

Here's the graph of our favorite apple treat.  Applesauce always wins!

Wednesday afternoon we prepared a cute Cardinal for the parade on Friday!

Our friendly and kind superintendent,  Ms.Jen, came to share with us what her job is at our school.   We found out some pretty cool things about her: she lives in Chatfield, she's a mom  to 3 boys,  her job is to keep us safe (she calls it in when we have a show day! ), and she pays the bills for the school so we can have nice buses and toys and happy teachers.

We also took a little time to describe apples by using our 5 Senses...

Please enjoy the following photos from the APPLE ORCHARD!
As always, I do not feel like I can get enough photos
(someone has to be the teacher!  Haha!)
So I hope I captured at least one shot of everyone.
We sure had a blast while learning about the life cycle of the apple tree!
Thank you, Farmer Barb!

Here's our Letter Ll snack from this lovely learner!
Lucky Charms!

Good Reads...

Homecoming Photos will be included in next week's blog.
Stay tuned!

And now for the week of September 30-October 4:

BIG NEWS:
2 pieces of interesting homework was sent home on Friday
(yikes, I do not like giving Friday homework!)
However, both are not due immediately.  Whew!

The Pumpkin Family Project
can be sent in as soon as you can get some family members together to work on it.
Usually within a week they are really starting to roll in.
PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A FAMILY PROJECT and your k kid should not do it alone. Thanks!

The BOOK IT recording sheet is due at the end of the month but you can send it in as soon as it is full.
This one is voluntary and not required but certainly tasty fun!

I will be starting to assess your k kid for our 1st quarter skills this week.  Please see the tab above for report card skills if you wish to see what we are assessing.  You will receive an update of the skills they have mastered and the areas they need a little more practice on. These should be ready by the end of the week.
