2019 October Week 5 Letters Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp Apples and Owls!

So this precious baby was born this week!
Grandbaby #10!  Ashland Leigh is Lee's first baby!
I am SOOOOOO in love!
They live in Baraboo it is not that far to go to get in some snuggles!

Before that wonderful event happened we spent the weekend backpacking near Schroeder MN.
Mile 190 is just a smidge away from accomplishing!
We also had some time on the shores of the Lake.

Ugh...this set us back about 4 hours, though.
All is well though and I now have 4 brand new tires.
Merry Christmas to me?

Back at school...
Monday brought new Morning Challenges:
Apple Beginning Sound Match Up...

Apple Shape Review...

Apple Numeric Order...

This Marvelous Munchkin brought us MMMMarshmallows and M&M Cookies for our Mm snack!

We are part of an ABC Across America penpal project.
We created 26 Mm for Moose to send to 25 other kindergarten classes across the country.
We then are receiving the rest of the letters in the mail from them!
How exciting!

Monday was also Mm for Mustache day!

I love how the leader wore his mustache for most of the morning!

Here the k kids are opening some of the letters we received from other Kindergarten classes (see above)

We are keeping track of where they come from with this handy map.  The letters are posted in the hallway for everyone to enjoy!

Our Science Table is growing!
We will be accepting donations through October.
Pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn are all great ideas!

On Monday we thought like a scientist and labeled the parts of an apple...

We also went home wearing these Marvelous Moose Hats from Moose Jaw in Wisconsin Dells
(my son, the new daddy, is the evening kitchen manager. Thanks, Lee, for donating them!)

On Tuesday this nifty kid brought Nilla Wafers for our Nn treat!

On Monday we painted these monsters for our Mm book
GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER!
We wrote color words on Tuesday to describe our monsters.

Oh we have engineers!

Tuesday's centers included:
Making (and eating!) an apple pie!
The kids had to follow the recipe.
My favorite part is watching them figure out the whipped cream~haha!

Another station was
painting the seasons of an apple tree...

and finding the Nns in our friends' names and graphing them...

On Wednesday this Outstanding K Kid brought OOOOranges and OOOOreos for our Oo snack!

We wrapped up the Apple Unit with a bit of nonstandard measurement.
How Many Apples Tall Are You?

The kids sure enjoy playing teacher!

Thanks for sending in the math items for "What Does Not Belong?"
We've just a few more to do!
If you haven't send yours in yet, you still can by Monday.

After the math lesson for the day the early finishers can work on the Math Challenges.
This hard working k kid CHOSE to practice printing her numerals!  Beautiful!

Our letter Pp page for our ABC book involved a little color mixing magic!
