2021 May Week 4 Zoo Animals!

T MINUS 4 at the time of this posting!

WOW!

We had a very busy week with magnets, zoo animals, money and clocks.

Plus assessment...all the assessments!

Here's a few photos of our fun and educational week :

We had some syllable review:

We journaled about money...
We wrote a letter to the zoo...
Thanks to the folks who helped count clocks for our bonus homework!
Oh!  Our Count Down to Summer Tt Tent Town was an amazing experience!
See my Instagram post as I celebrated this great behavior day!

We introduced the King of ~ing in language arts:

We studied Living/NonLiving in Science:(from last Friday)
Living things have needs are up for this afternoon!

Reading Night on Tuesday was fun!  Attendance was kind of low due to the weather and Covid.  Please come NEXT year!  (It'll be Math night next year as the topics switch yearly)

We did some counting by 2 practice:
And our final BIG project was making these cutie patootie raccoons!

We've had a lot of fun with clocks!  There is not a state standard for time telling in K, however we always do an introduction anyway.  The kids should be able to tell time on the top of the hour!

Oh the magnet table is a hit!  We love feeling that magnetic force!

Ms. Kay helped the kids act out
The 3 Little Bears
during library!
How much fun was that!

And now for our FINAL WEEK:
Reading/Language Arts: Review all

Sight Words: Review all

Math: Tangrams

Theme: End of the Year

Science/Social Studies: Sort Nature/Man-Made

ONE MORE BLOG next week with some VERY AWESOME PHOTOS!

2021 May Week 3

Even though it was not a successful mushroom hunt this year
(this is the ONLY morel we found, we did score a few dryad saddles though) we had a good time in the woods!

 Wowza!

There are only 9 days of Kindergarten left at the time of this posting!

I still have 9 days to polish up my little gems for 1st Grade!

We do have a very sweet project we worked on this week but I will save it for the LAST blog of the year in two weeks!  You're going to LOVE it!

So going backwards this week:

Friday was letter Qq for our countdown to summer!

We created our Queens and Kings of Kindergarten crowns a little early.

What fun!

I couldn't do the mornings without this guy:

Thank you, Mr. Tom!

Thursday we had a PLAYDOUGH day for letter Pp!!!

Everyone got new playdough to get through to the end of the year.

We played with it for bonus time.  What fun creations!

On Wednesday we read all about turtles and created these cutie-patootie little reptile mosaics for our room!

We also attempted to take our reading lesson outside but got rained on!
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

Aren't these kiddos becoming GREAT writers? Their writing journal will come home on the last day of school...but sure to page through to see the growth! And some of their responses are just adorable!

We have a MONEY station set up in ZONE 1...what fun!  Next week we will have an introduction to Time and Money (never enough of either?! Haha!)

Tuesday was FROG day in Kindergarten!  We learned so much about these amphibians!
We just love generating these CAN*HAVE*ARE charts!

We solved this super long puzzle together!

And aren't these craft projects just the cutest?

2021 May Week 2 Bugs~

Hey, Hello There, Superior Hiking Trail!

We checked off another section during Mother's Day weekend and still made it home to have a meal with the kids! Only about 90 miles to go out of the 325+.  Someday we will be done! Someday...

(we did not make the rock cairns...just photographed them.  Jeez, people fuss over EVERYTHING these days!  Yes, rock cairns are controversial on the North Shore.  I think they are lovely!)

Here's me and my hubby after walking the mostly uphill 6 mile hike!
My Garmin device said we hiked 226 Flights of stairs up and only 116 down.  Yikes! Tent camping works when you are so tired you'd sleep anywhere! Haha!

Don't you just love MAY!

The one problem is May is the FASTEST month ever.

I think it is because we have soooo many things to wrap up for the end of the year.

Sadly that means my camera is often a second thought and I do not get to capture too many of our wonderful projects. It happens every year. Sigh.

This week in Kindergarten we learned about bugs...

Specifically butterflies and bees !

Here are some photos of our wonderful, fast week:

We have a new center...clocks!!!

Pardon these out of order photos...this was Thursday's art project.

We are beginning the pond unit so we created these lovely lotus blossoms!

One of our centers this week was NUMBER WORDS honey bee style!

This chart is for Kk day as we count down the days to summer.

We focused on KINDNESS!

The kids put up a heart for every example of kindness they could think of.

Wow! What a kind world we live in.

We love our butterfly forest! Scroll down to see the process...

These kiddos made the 100 Club!

Just a few more to go and we have 100% of students counting to this important number!

Working...

These logic problems were very good for our brains!

Choice Time!

Yes, that's a pond right in our classroom!

Our butterfly project took 2 days to complete!

And they are BEAUTIFUL!

This painting was a lesson in SYMMETRY!

Centers on Wednesday had us building our own symmetrical butterfly!

Tuesday was Letter Ii day...Italian Icees!

Letter Jj day JOKES were great!
Thanks to all who sent theirs in.

The final family projects are looking SUNNY and SUMMERY!

Thank you!

It's not too late if you haven't done your family's yet.

The frog table is soooo much CROAKY fun!

We have sooooo many bug books!  What creepy crawly fun!
