2018 Rain Forest Summer School

What a fun and educational week we had discovering 5 different animals and the rainforest they call home!
Look at our explorers!

We had two great helpers this week, my own kids,
Maeve and Fionn!

On Monday our projects were:
Preparing folders and choosing our safari hats with Maeve...
playing an alligator logic game with Fionn...
and designing an alligator bookmark!
My table was creating and painting an alligator. .

Snack time is always a favorite time!
Thank you for the nice selections of juice and eats!
At snack time we watch youtube videos about the
animal-of-the-day...
usually a fiction and a nonfiction selection.

Tuesday was snake day!
At Maeve's table the kiddos made a cute little finger puppet...

Fionn played a snake addition game...

and my table was to paint snake toys!

Maeve's bonus project was to write about the rain forest and to create a strip for our word wall!

Fionn's bonus table was a rain forest search page...

Choice Time!

We had a measurement activity which began on Monday.
We measured and estimated how long the gators were and how big we thought they might get!

Wednesday was jaguar day!
At my table we assembled and painted a jaguar...

Fionn played an animal abc game with the explorers...

and Maeve taught the kids about the levels of the rainforest while they painted and assembled a rainforest scene!

Fionn's bonus table was to create rainforest animal finger puppets!

All week we've been working on a rainforest animal puzzle...
we finished it and all of the pieces are here!

Fionn helped us review counting by 5s...
At my table we created picture frames!

Maeve's table was to compare our handprint to a mountain gorilla handprint!  We also measured...

We've had fun everyday with our morning message!
 Good Reads this week...
Friday's projects were...CHAMELEONS!
practicing to print color words (using the lines like 1st graders~)

At Maeve's table we created a chameleon door hanger!
