2018 Week 38 Kings and Queens of Kindergarten!

.
Here they are!  The graduating class of 2017-2018!

Priceless!

During our last week of Kindergarten
we celebrated 3 summer birthdays...

We had centers every day!
This brain break was spinning tops and painting with tops!

This center was crayon rubbings star words!

Now this was a brain buster!
We had to look in the mirror to see the star word.
Only 1 k kid could actually read and write the word without the mirror!

Our last science center was NATURE vs. MAN MADE...

On Wednesday the kiddos got to sit wherever they wanted!
We had fun morning challenges for them to explore until after the bell!
Pattern Blocks and mirrors...

Teddy Counters and Mirrors...

And playing with tops rounded out our selection...

We are the KINGS and QUEENS of Kindergarten this week!
So of course we had to read books about royalty...
King Bidgood is in the bath and won't get out!
Oh, who know what to do?
The kids all had great ideas after we read this funny and engaging book!

Kings and Queens!
Mrs. Sauers helped us make our crowns!
Because I teach enrichment summer school fast on the heels of regular school, the k kids get to help set up and play with the stations for Diggin' Dinosaurs that the preschoolers are invited to attend.
Thanks kids!

Also, the legos are still a hit!

Wednesday's fun centers were all DOMINO stations!
This one is called domino dock...
Domino place value...

Here's a domino game with Ms. G...

and our independent station,
Domino Addition!

Hope your child enjoyed the summer tools!
Keep their brains engaged this summer with reading, writing, looking at math, hiking, playing, singing, dancing...
We've had a blast with the castle blocks building some pretty impressive structures!

 Our very last centers included:
HOT DOG word families...

 popsicle numeric order...

andBOWLING!
(subtraction was our skill!)

Brain break dinosaur playdo...
 star words...
Friday morning the Senior class treated us to a walk through!  How emotional to see these kiddos at the end of their school career here at Lewiston-Altura Elementary!
Hang onto your hats, in just 12 short years your kiddo will be in this parade!

Our final activity together was to solve TANGRAM puzzles with a partner!
How Fun!

Good Reads!
And a lot of them this week!
(reading to the kids is really one of my favorite things in the world!)
Here is a nice poem I have enclosed in your child's end of the year packet about the joy and thrill of reading!
The chalk board has been an old school hit!
This sign greeted us in the morning....

And this one as we left for the day!

Thank you to everyone who came to our family lunch, music concert, and graduation!
I apologize for not getting many family photos, a few kiddos where leftover this year and I did not get a chance to find you! BUT, I did get the dreaded eating pictures!
Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed the concert.
I am never able to get many good shots from the
"teachers' area"
How cute though!

And finally...the mandatory SILLY shot!

So this year has come to an end.
It sure is a bittersweet time.
I keep thinking "Wait!  I haven't done this or that with the kids yet."  I can always find more fun and engaging things, but it is time to say good bye!
Please take me up on my invite for your kiddo to come out to my house after reading 100 books
(recording sheet included in the packet given out at graduation).
I will always remember your child.
Thank you for all your support from home this year.
You were awesome!
Best of luck in 1st grade and beyond as your child grows and changes and you do, too, as a parent.
So....
this is it.
Really.
A loooong Minnesota Good bye!
(but not really...come see me!)
