Week 3 ABCDE, sorting, and APPLES!

Oh, what a lovely time of year!

This week in K we began new morning challenges:
The red team matched objects to numerals...

The yellow team put apples in abc order...

The green team put apples in numeric order...

It takes a lot of teamwork to finish our challenges!  Well done, kiddos!

On Monday we began our letter of the day series!
Every day we make a page in our alphabet book.
Letter Aa was up first, of course, so we created these cutie patotie Alligator Purses!
Inside we had pictures of items that began with the Aa sound.

On Tuesday we delved into the letter Bb.
This kiddos brought us Bb Bananas!

We journaled about BAND AIDS!
This was the kids' first independent writing the beginning sounds they heard.
They did great!

Cute!

Tuesday's Centers included:
Brown Bear graphing dice roll...

Painting a lovely little bear with eye droppers and liquid watercolor...

Brown Bear counting/printing numerals...

M&M Sorting/Counting/Recording
oh, and EATING!

This is our Bb page in our alphabet book...

Wednesday was letter Cc day...
This lovely lady brought Colorful Crackers for snack...

Here is a new station in our room...

And our abc board...
Build a Word board...
Letters in our Name board...

With our apple unit in full swing we measured ourselves using apples!

and then we measured our rest buddies!

On Wednesday we also sorted our apples...
by color and size!

Later we journaled about our apples, while thinking like a scientist...really observing!

On Thursday we made APPLESAUCE and DEHYDRATED APPLES!
I brought in reinforcement apples from home...
The kids cut and chopped...

and peeled with the apple peeler!
(Mrs. Sauers oversaw this step)

The kids loved the skins!

We added honey and cinnamon...
to both recipes...

And began cooking those delicious apples!

The final step for the applesauce was to use the emulsifier to puree!

It was also Dd day so this fella brought us delicious Dd Cookies!

Centers on Thursday included:
Dot Dot Not A Lot Apple
which was a liquid glue tutorial...

We had a taste test table...
apple juice, dried apples, and applesauce!

Mrs. Sauers helped with Number Matching Apples as well...

This is the Beginning Sound table...

and finally the apple patterning table...

Our Dd chart...
