2024 Week 17 The Mitten!

Winter is finally here! Yay!

Snow days are nice and help keep our students safe but sure do mess with the order of things in our classroom. Our Mitten Week was cut a bit short, we may squeeze a few things in before we begin THE BEACH next week!!!

Here's a picture I staged for my "down south" grandbabies a few years ago after I sent them the book The Mitten! Too funny!

Thursday we had Mitten Day!

How fun to write with our gloves and mittens on!

We also graphed our mittens and gloves!

2024 Week 16 New Years and Winter!

Happy 2024!

Can you believe how far we've come this school year?

Here's to even more fun and learning in the new year!

We wrapped up our 5 Senses unit on Tuesday with some fun guessing games involving hearing and smelling!

Our theme for this week was SNOW!

Oh how I love snow!

And yes I am missing it.

Fingers crossed that we get a little this weekend!

A very fun and free building block resource is STYROFOAM! We've been having a blast creating all sorts of structures!

Our very first project of 2024 was a countdown to the New Year decoration!

Wednesday's centers included:

Disco Ball Sight Words!

Snow Soup!!!!

Adding by Counting On...

Numeral Recognition...

(especially those tricky teens!)

Geobands...designing shapes with rubber bands!

We had an indoor snowball fight!

We read the sight word, crumpled up the snowball, and threw it! What fun!

We are now using our wiring journals to review skills. At first we'll mostly be practicing literacy skills but we'll add a little Math, Social Studies, and Science as the year goes on.
