Week 14, Letter Nn, Star Word 'like', GINGERBREAD!!!!

Yep, the rumors are true...I gave myself a forehead injury which resulted in 2 black eyes!
Bathing outdoors in December has it drawbacks!

And now for my favorite week of the entire year...
GINGERBREAD WEEK!
We begin by learning this sweet poem and by creating these cutie pie gingerbread people which we use all week long. 



 We tasted gingerbread from the World Market and made a note of HOW we took that first bite...





 and made a graph on how we
EAT our gingerbread cookies!
Most of us bit the head off first!....



 Monday afternoon we created these adorable gingerbread necklaces!
(I am lucky to have crafts from when I taught an enrichment class a few years ago.  Since we have a small class I have enough for everyone!)

Tuesday morning's new Morning Challenges are:

 Yes, we baked cookies right in the classroom!
What a delightful aroma!
 The kids stirred and mixed and rolled out their dough...




and we baked them for 8 minutes without peeking!

Here's another fun card game we played with gingerbread, star words, tricky letters, and of course fox cards that sent all of our cards back into the pile!


Tuesday's Centers included:
Decorating (and eating) our own, fresh made gingerbread cookies!

We also compared and contrasted the Gingerbread Boy and the Gingerbread Girl...
Wow, the shared a lot of characters, but the stories sure had different endings!
