Summer School Bug Fun 2016

Here's a quick peek at our fast and fun week of
BUG FUN!
Everyday the kids enjoyed self guided learning until we began projects.

There were tons of choices and loads of sharing!
What a great class!

Monday was lady bug day!
Here is Maeve helping with lady bug hats and magnifiers...

Mackenzie made a shape review book...

And my station was to illustrate a poem about lady bugs...

Here's a bonus project...

Book time

Tuesday was honey bee day!
These kiddos are enjoying the play dough while waiting their turn at stations...

Mackenzie's station was to prepare a honey bee poem for kids to retell at home...

Maeve helped the kiddos create these adorable bees...

And my station was a bee painting ...sweet!

The kids posed for a picture for use later in the week...

Everyday the kiddos needed to sign in on our chart...

Here we are sharing about the bugs we caught...

During group time we played a game or solved a puzzle together everyday...
Here we put the bees in abc order...

Wednesday was caterpillar and butterfly day.
Maeve's station was designing these cutie pie caterpillar clips...

Oh yay! This looks like fun!
My station was painting butterflies using droppers.
We talked about the word symmetry!

We also created and journaled about our very hungry caterpillars!
Here the kids are enjoying the click beetle clickers!
We also practiced printing our names like kindergarteners...
(One capital, the rest lower case letters)

On Thursday we learned about fireflies!
Maeve's station was picture frames,
Fireflies repurposed from Christmas lights,
And a firefly jar...
Wow! She really worked hard!

Katelyn's mom helped us out, too!
Her station was a fly swatter activity...what  fun!
She also helped us review printing numerals to 12!

At my station we painted with...
Are you ready for the answer?...
FLY SWATTERS!

 Oh what messy fun!
We also made a math story...

Here's another of our charts...

Our last day was bittersweet.
This scientist brought gifts,
(made me cry a little!)
Yay!  We always need more Mr. Sketch markers!
Thank you!
Maeve's station was a search and vocab review...

Mackenzie's station was a game practicing letter sounds...

and my station was to create a bug  collection and practice beginning reading skills...

Here's our scientists looking at insects at the science table...

Oh, I just love this share!
That's the smallest and most adorable honey bee suit I've ever seen!

And finally good reads from the week...
I sure hope your almost k kid enjoyed our enrichment summer school as much as  I did!
I will see many of you around in the Fall!
Thanks for a great week!
