Summer School Rain Forest Animals 2

Oh, wow!
What a fast, fun, and fabulous week!
Here's a peek at our rain forest explorers:

Monday we learned about BIG BUGS at these fun stations:
Maeve helped us with numeric order...

And greater than review...
Mackenzie helped us with this informative insect puzzle...

And my table was BUILD-A-BUG!
We focused on the body parts of an insect...
Head-thorax-abdomen

We have self-directed learning build into our day. It's interesting to see what the kids choose...this was word building:
Reading...

These two gals are putting finishing touches on their bugs...
Daily at group time we some a puzzle or do an activity together.
We put these rain forest animals in order counting by 5s...
Every day the leader helps us with the morning message...
We tried to get this sun paper to work but didn't have much luck.  The process was fun though!

These two love the bug table...

Tuesday in the rain forest we worked on the layers of the rain forest:
Emergent, canopy, understory, and forest floor...

It was also bat day!
Mackenzie worked on addition skills...

And one more/one less...
Maeve reviewed the -at family and helped us create a bat magnet...

Wednesday was snake day!
We made two snakes at my table:
A nice wood snake and a spiral snake!

Maeve helped us with snake pencil toppers...

And Mackenzie helped with snake addition and a fun scratch board snake...

We took some time out of our busy day to wash the tables with shaving cream!
Tuesday was chameleon day!
We have a color words center at my table as well as a chameleon word family project...

Mackenzie helped with a cute chameleon door hanger...
She also handed out our fun chameleon bonus toy!
Maeve helped create these adorable picture frames...

Good reads this week...
On Friday the kids worked at choice time on a very difficult puzzle...but we did it!

Since it was bird day, Maeve helped with these cute bird projects...

Mackenzie helped create sloths and played a rain forest game with the kids...

and at my station we made a scientific journal with the cute title "It's a JUNGLE in there!"

 We also wrote bird words...

Thank you for sharing your almost FIRST grader with me!
We had an amazing week!
See you around the hallways!
