2021 Week 13 Gingerbread!

We brought back the wintery weather from our trip to the North Shore!

Yay, for those of you who love winter like me!!!!

and

Sorry, to those of you who don't!

My favorite stop on the way back down the shore...
The Candy Store!

The winter village was magical!
Here we are before it opened on Sunday...
with Christmas music wafting in the snowy air, it felt like we were dropped into a movie set!
It was just breathtaking!

Speaking of breathtaking!
haha!
You just can't keep us out of the Lake!
Sadly we did not get a tree as the section of the Superior National Forest we were harvesting from was getting socked with 18 inches of snow and 40 mph winds.  We could not safely hike in to get our tree.

Back at school on Monday we created these adorable trees for an assisted living facility in Winona.  A friend asked if we could brighten the place and of course we said "Yes!"
We also created these cutie patootie gingerbread people on Monday:

Centers on Tuesday were all about
GINGERBREAD!
We actually mixed up two big batches and rolled them out and baked them right in our classroom using (kindergarten magic?) a toaster oven!
We decorated and ate them on Thursday
(keep scrolling for those delicious pictures!)

We also had a read the room activity finding sight words printed on gingerbread people...

We sorted needs and wants...

We found number bonds to 10 with Mrs. Sauers...

and (a favorite) we played with gingerbread playdough!

Here's more tree photos:

Exciting news:
The Kindergarten Bakery is OPEN!

Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?  You guessed it...
Thursday's centers included:
Frosting, decorating, and eating the gingerbread cookies we baked on Tuesday....
MMMMM!

Gingerbread challenges with Mrs. Sauers...

Holiday Puzzles with Mrs. Flathers...
Read the Room Gingerbread Friends style...

And because it is such a hit...gingerbread playdough part 2!

We discovered that jingle bells "stick" to our magnatiles!  What fun!

Here are some sightings from around our room...

Not only is this a "life size" gingerbread house but it hides 12 boxes of holiday and gingerbread activities!
