2022 Week 18

Hey, I'm (kind of) back in the hiking game!

We hiked a 2 mile course at Forestville State Park last Saturday...not too far but the first since getting my back "fixed!"

We love the candlelight ski/hike/snowshoe events held around the area.  They are typically a family friendly and lovely event!  Check out "Midwest candlelight events" on Google if you are interested!

💙

We began our week with the great book called The Land of Many Colors which was written by a class of preschoolers 20 years ago!  The take away was it doesn't matter what color we are,

 it's the heart that matters!

Prior to reading this book we had the oldie but goodie
"Which Should We Open" experiment.  The shiny package was so lovely, the brown package was...well, just plain. Whatever side had the most votes was the bag we were going to open and share.

As usual the shiny bag had the most votes so we opened it and found....CAT FOOD!  Only too bad for us because the plain bag had M&Ms!

After the kiddos handled their disappointment, I asked them what lesson we could learn from this.  After everyone repeated "It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, the inside is what matters" we shared the M&Ms anyway because I'm not a monster! Haha!

The beach is up and running!  How fun!

We had a rare centers day on Wednesday due to no school on Monday.
My table was a STEM challenge...the kids had to build a coconut tree with the materials available AND balance letters on top of it!  The record was 58 letters!

Ms. Sauer's table was a Rhyme Time review:

but the photos didn't turn out~my phone needs replacement but I've been babying her along...sigh

Ms. Martinez's table was greater than review...

Ms. S's table was an introduction to MIDDLE SOUNDS...a skill coming up very soon!

We also had a read the room with beach words!

Here's more of the STEM challenge photos...

On Thursday we created these multi-step
 Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom trees for the hallway!

Boomerangs (just for fun! )of our STEM challenge:
