2026 Week 19 The Beach and DMLK

Aloha from the beach!

After a day learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, we went to the BEACH!  What tropical fun!













This is the social experiment on judging the outside instead of the inside.
The kids got to choose which bag to open:
The shiny one 
or
The plain one.
They, of course, chose the shiny one (I would have too if I didn't know the trick!)
Inside it was.....
catfood!
The plain one had chocolate that we did share later when we visited about 
"It doesn't matter what is on the outside"
 the inside, our heart, it what matters!"

Wednesday's centers included:
Station 1
S.T.E.A.M. challenge:
build a coconut tree that can hold letters
(the record was Milo's with 30!)





















Station 2:

Subtraction with Sharks and Ms. Mohs




Station 3:

Real and Silly words with Sharks and Mr. Tom



Station 4:

Water Play Brain Break!


On Tuesday we created these adorable
Chicka-chicka-boom-boom 
Coconut trees with our last names!













And now for the week of January 26-30:

Reading Language Arts:

Letter: short e

Sight Word: *see*

Grammar: complex sentences


Math:  continue taking numbers apart

Social Studies: Assertion 

Science: What are Things Made of?

Theme: wrap up The Beach!

Begin Chinese New Year 

(actually Feb 17 , the year of the horse, but we are celebrating early)

REMINDER:

Be looking for an email from the office concerning conferences. 

Sadly (but happily!!!!) I'll be in St. Augustine, Florida visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and 2 beautiful Granddaughters that Thursday of conferences (Feb 5). 

I'll try to see as many of you as I can on Tuesday,  Feb. 3. If you need another date,  please contact me and we'll find a time.
