Groovy Goofy G Day PLUS Zero the Hero AND learning stations!

Wow!  We have had an amazing end of the week! 

 Thursday was packed with fun and learning...

We began our day by meeting Zero the Hero~a little bear who helps us with place value.

He will visit us on the 10th, 20th, 30th (etc) days of school.

He always manages to have a zero shaped treat for us!

Then we had our lesson on the letter Gg....GOOFY GLASSES were a hit!

AND FINALLY ~ LEARNING CENTERS!

We created Hickory Dickory Clocks,

 played with our Math boxes (1-10 ordering & counting), 

dot painted letters,

and glittered our Gg's!

Friday, letter Hh day, was not so cleverly laid out as we HURRIED through the morning

for our 1st early dismissal.

The paras explored our new email/and data storage as well as procedural items.

The teachers planned the beginning of "Understanding by Design" units.

We are all learners in this big beautiful world!

A Fun, Fantastic, Letter Ff Day!

In the car tonight, my 9 year old son said, "There's a new kid...I like him, he's got that HD thing going on."

Me: "Oh? I'm not sure what that is? He's ultra  focused? Like an HD TV?"

Fionn "No...I meant that ADHD thing!"

Through the chuckles that followed, I decided I LIKE that HD title...I like it that kids of different abilities are accepted for who they are at our school... 

So here's to an HD year for all of us! More focus, more definition, more acceptance!  Thanks, Fionn!

We have had 2 super days in K learning about the letters Ee and FF....take a peek!

 

We read this Froggy book ....flop, flop, flop was funny to say!

We will finish Green Eggs and Ham on Gg day~Thursday.

We also are studying shapes....we sang an awesome song by Dr. Jean called "Shape Song"

When reciting this a little girl said "all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't help 

BUT DORA CAN!"

I must have missed that episode!

A Walk in the Woods...or 500 feet up the bluff on a deer trail really is a great cardio workout!

 I LOVE FALL!

 Finally feeling like hiking again with my mountain goat of a husband..he's not happy unless we make a 500 feet change in elevation usually several times, up and down the bluffs for at least 5 miles! One of our favorite places is the PlowLine Trail (Bronk Trail) between Stockton and Minnesota City.  There are at least 8 miles of trails to discover.   Today we only took the little dogs, Billy and Jack...Pippin stayed home with the kids. He's getting too old and he's too big to carry!  Plus a fine mist was falling and no one except the adults wanted to go.  We were searching for bittersweet.... BINGO! Look at our haul!  We lost Billy for most of the hike...he is young and just learning how to stay close or to roam but use his nose to find us.  He stayed right on the trail we lost him on, though. He waited over an hour for us.... Whew!

 We also spent time shopping for a new jacket for me this weekend, a quest I go on and fail at every Fall...until now! I found one with long enough arms AND 50% off!  

 Plus I added bling to my bag...come on cold weather...I'm ready!

After such a nice weekend, I am ready for a new week in Kindergarten!

Here's our plan for the week ahead:

Reading/Language Arts:  Letters Ee, Ff, Gg, and Hh  as well as rhyming

Math: Shapes and "What Does Not Belong"

Theme: Nursery Rhymes...Humpty Dumpty and Hickory Dickory
